Tinka Kurti and mother Pashako in "Stars of the long nights"
The great Albanian world war film "Stars of the long nights" tells the story of a brave mother and her brave sons, who gave their lives for the homeland. This is a case in the history of our cinematography, where the hero of the film, yet alive, is given her real name. This was an honor for mother Pashako, known in her province as Pashako Selman Orhanaj, who gave to homeland Albania the lives of her sons fell heroes in the fight against Nazi occupation.
Director Viktor Gjika became more and more convinced that Tinka was the most suitable actress to play Mother Pashako, because she was a potent, powerful actress, with a great emotional load and capable of performing even this difficult role. But she also had to complete some other necessary elements: to get to know this heroine mother closely.

- Tinka, the rest of us will go to Voskopoja, and you, as you told me, go and live for a few days in the house of mother Pashakos, right? Victor had understood Tinka's intention, because one day she had expressed this desire to him. "Yes, I need to get to know her," Tinka replied. - But I have a request and I want it from you as Viktor, as a friend, to do me an honor: that in the first dub, if you are not satisfied, remove me from the movie and tell me that I do not do it role.
- I give the word, but I'm sure it will not happen… - and Victor smiled .
Tinka's first meeting with mother Pashako there in the distant and deep zone village of Pirg (Korca) created emotions for her that she had never experienced. She had the natural anxiety about how he would live among strangers, but immediately this anxiety disappeared.
- Come, my daughter, live here with us… - the old mother said to Tinka with a warmth and warmth that made Tinka relieved of the heavy load of that day. From day one, in addition to the special hospitality she felt in this home, she was charged in the mind and heart with the weight of responsibility for the role more than before. Now she saw the truth in her eyes. Whereas before she saw the role as a vision, as something still elusive and somewhat distant, now she had to enter it with all her being, she had to embody every particle no matter how small of the body and soul of this old woman, now had to become the real Mother Pashako.

Yes, Tinka Kurti should have been "called" Mother Pashako. So Tinka lived long with Mother Pashako, there, in her house, in the remote mountain village of Pirg. She ate with her and followed carefully every action of her, accompanied her in every step , wherever she went, with whoever she met. She observed how she walked, how she spoke, how she rejoiced and how she grieved. And not only that. Tinka woke up early in the morning, just like the girls and brides of the house. She worked like them, in all the actions that a village house has. They tried not to let hem, but Tinka insisted. Tinka stood in the minder quite close to her, grabbed her dry hands by age, squeezed them in her hands and looked her straight in the eye. Even though she was 100 years old, her eyes were wet, all juicy, and looked like tears. No, there were years when she had dry eyes, no more tears, but those bright eyes had a light that never went out, so when she talked about the past, they looked juicy, with the fluid of a past life as if all the waters of the Pirg springs had been collected in them. When it came time to sleep, Tinka made a decision. To lie down on the same bed, to sleep with her, to cover herself with the same quilt, to rest her head on the same pillow, to talk until late, to hear her voice better, to breathe her breath and she looked closer at the many wrinkles on her face, until she fell asleep. Tinka tried not to see her tears. Tears in the eyes, knives in the heart. Terrible shocks in the soul, no matter how hard she tried to stay. Gritting her teeth in pain, she tried to sum up all her strengths and abilities. She barely restrained herself from burst into tears

- Enough, please mother, you said enough today. We have time again, - she tried to calm down the poor mother. The next day the same things, the brides and daughters through the housework, Tinka to help them, then close to the mother. The paralyzed Naim always watched Tinka and her movements. He saw her as a special guest of their poor home. Dalani half man… almost crazy .. (such had remained from the tortures) sometimes came in and sometimes went out and pretended that he also helps in this house.
– Oh daughter of mine , they killed my three sons, my enemy killed them, lest it be. But I am left with those who see and thank God I have a house full of grandchildren. But I always have the mortar before my eyes. Do you see Naim paralyzed. Who needs his life? Do you see the crazy Dalan wandering around? The badluck mother is still alive. Oh how it does not take me …… - sometimes she fell into despair.

But her conversations were strange. Strong, durable. The day the film crew would come to pick up Tinka was her fifteenth day at this house. The yellow bus of Kinostudios could not go up, to the house where it was located. In the center of the village, where the actors stopped, the whole village gathered. The actors went up walking, for a visit to Pashakos's mother's house. Tinka waited there. She wanted to see Pashako`s reaction when she was in front of them one by one. The first to enter was Sander Prosi, "her brother". He leaned slightly against the door sill, since he was taller. - Who is the one who came in? - said mother Pashako. "Your brother, mother," Tinka said at once. He had been dead for a few years and the mother was very shocked, especially when he bent down, just like him. "Even his face was like him," thought mother Pashako instantly. She was told that a movie would be made for her, but she did not know what the movie was. But with her intelligence and intuition, she looked at him with remarks and with a concentration that spoke a lot, then she said to him: - You went away too, brother, why did you leave me alone? I have felt your need a lot. The audience was shocked. She remained strong anyway and was not given up. Actor Petrika Riza enters the room.
- Who is this? "He is me, mother" said the paralyzed Naimi. The poor mother which to look at first, Naim half "dead" lying in bed for years, or "Naim" alive?
"You are both the same, but one lying down and the other standing," she said with difficulty and in great pain.
When Llazi Serbo entered to play Dalan, the madman, his mother moved her eyes from one to another; Who to trust and who to accept as my boy? "Oh, woe is me!" - she said to herself. She did not notice the entry of Metos, the boy who had gone to war with his leg injured very bad. As soon as she was told, she did not look him in the eye, but directed to his heel: with the painful look

- Did your foot heal, son? How did you walk, my poor son, in those mountains, with that stinking heel. Do you remember that when they brought you killed, I did not look you in the face, but took off your shoe and saw your leg? Do you remember?
Tafili, Jani Skorovati, as soon as he entered, shook her hand and looked at mother Pashako straight in the eye:
- How are you mother? - only he spoke until then. She saw him and stood up. She realized that it was Tafili, her beloved Tafili who felt in her soul the blow of that collision. Jani Skorovati was very similar to Tafili, so the director took him as he was a judge and made him an actor. Mother Pashako, completely haunted, put her hand behind her head and looking for the "wound", said:
- Thank you son, the mother lived long and without much harm. And I never wanted to die without you forgiving me for the guilt I committed, can a mother do what I did? Yes, I had a reason, son, to deny you to save the village and with it your brothers. They live, but you see how they are.
The cast, along with Tinka, left shortly after. The separation was also very sad….
