#MarikaKallamata 𝟏𝟗𝟑𝟎 - 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟗
Successfully actress of the National Albania Theater & Cinematography
Undoubtedly she remains one of the prominent Albanian actresses. The grandmother of fairy tales, the performer of many roles, although second, but who lined up the actress in the cinema pantheon. We remember her today with honor and respect! Unforgettable!
Marika Kallamata was born in Fier on November 17, 1930. A kind of desire for acting was noticed as a teenager in her hometown. She began the artistic activity in the theater near the House of Culture, where she was evaluated by teachers trained in the Normal School of Elbasan. The ‘50s would make the final choice for her, she left Fier and the job of kindergarten teacher, to come once and for all to the capital. She recited in front of the People's Theater commission, of Andrea Malo, Mihal Popi, Andon Pano and other big names in the art at the time. She started his career in this Theater in 1950.
It was decided that she would stay on probation for two years and be paid according to the roles because at that time "big roles were not given easily, those that gave the opportunity to explode".
Marika Kallamata passed exams together with Margarita Xhepa and Drita Agolli. It was not yet the time when dramatic art graduates approached the theater. So she studied for four years at the Lyceum of Arts together with other members of artistic troupes from the Army Ensemble, Song and Dance, Philharmonic, Opera and Ballet Theater, Puppet Theater, that someone had dropped out from the high school, one or two years, or actresses like Liza Vorfi, Behije Çela who had dropped out of school because they had become mothers (!)
The only one with full education was Drita Pelinku who had done pedagogy. In this theater she would play a series of roles such as the plays "Per ata qe ndodhen ne det / For those who are at sea"; the bride in "Our Land / Toke jone" directed by Pandi Stillu, where she starred alongside Marie Logoreci and Loro Kovaci, in "Arturo Ui" had the role of a man; the Japanese in "On the Other Side", the peasant in "The Rise and Fall of Comrade Zylo", "The Prefect"; "Kremlin Hours"; "The man with the rifle, etc. She stands out in the role of maid in Goldoni's comedy "Mirandolina". The role that will make her famous will be that of Aunt Aspasia in the comedy "Carnivals of Korca" by Spiro Comore in 1964.
She started her cinema career in 1957 in the first Albanian short film "femijet e saj / Her Children", then she was Gjergji's mother in "Njesiti guerril / Guerril Unit", Xhemile in "Girls with Red Ribbons", Nora's mother in "Students of my class", Drita in "Fjale pa fund / Words without end", also starred in "Dollia e dasmes sime / My wedding toast", "Enderr per nje karrige / Dream of a chair", as well as in the movie "Nje baba teper / A father too". Returned to the theater to perform after retiring, in "Shelter of the Forgotten" in 2004. She has performed about 60 roles, where among the most successful are: Ortensia, Aspasia, Mara, Fallxhesha, Nina, Ana, Nekija, and in quite episodic roles has been a very good actress. Although she was surrounded by dozens of successful actresses, Marika maintained her individuality.
She retired in October 1985, but Marika did not leave the scene. She was honored with the title "Merited Artist". In June 2013, she completed a book entitled "te dashur kolege / Dear Colleagues", a book of verses dedicated to the colleagues she worked with. Something more about this book we would say that she started writing it in 1967. Through descriptions or verses, she has described the characteristics of the luminaries of the Albanian scenic art, which includes about 55 characters that to this day are considered irreplaceable in Albanian acting. Among them she has described Naim Frashëri, Pjetër Goka, Violeta Manushi, Sander Prosi, Marie Logorec, Drita Pelingu, Lazër Filip, Kadri Roshin, Sulejman Pitarka, Besa Imam, Ndrek Lucën, Prokop Mima, Kadri Roshin, Tinka Kurti, Pirro Robert Ndrenikë, Roland Trebickën, Roza Anagnosti, etc ... every time Marika saw her friends in roles, she tried to portray them. But her inspiration has also come on birthdays like: Liza Vorfi, Drita Pelingu, Lazër Vlashi, Lazër Filipi and others. She passed away at the age of 89 on December 22, 2019.
