ZEF JUBANI (1910 - 1958)
Actor of "Migjeni" Theater. "People`s Artist"
It`s the one of the special cases
the birth and death date of the actor from Shkodra. He was born in Shkodra on
December 2, 1910 and passed away on December 1, 1958, one day before his
birthday !!!
He attended the Jesuit school in his hometown, and
participated in the performances organized by it, appearing on stage for the
first time in 1925. In the '30s he became active as an amateur actor in the
theater groups of well-known cultural societies "Vllaznia" and "Bogdani",
as were the performances: “The Road of the Abyss”, “The Font of the Swords”, “Moisi
Golemi-Prince of Dibra”, “Two Princes for a Girl”, “The Return of Gjergj
Kastriot to Croia”, etc.
After several performances that were prepared by
the central theater group at the Shkodra Club of Culture, in 1949, he was one
of the founding actors of the "Migjeni" theater in Shkodra.
He soon became the main actor, with the roles of
the protagonists, on the stage of this theater. In 40 artistic figures that he
created masterfully, he stood out especially in the performances of parts from
the Albanian dramaturgy, such as: “Seven shalians”, “The return” , “The down”,
“The crown of Nuria”, while from the
world dramaturgy he played in the main roles in the parts Moliere's Truffle, “The
servent of two lords” by Goldon, “Barber of Seville” by Bomarshese, “Nora” of
Ibsen etc.
One of his most impressive figures was that of Tuc Makut in the drama “Our Land” writen by Kole Jakova, in 1954. In 1952, he created the difficult Molerian figure, Harpagon, in the comedy “The Miser” (Kopraci). With this role he reached the peak of his artistic career as well as of the "Migjeni" theater of that time, as, on the other hand, marks one of the highest points of Albanian acting in general.
The power of Mr. Jubani's acting interpretation in the many roles he performed, is distinguished for the complete alienation of himself in the figure, for the intonations variety, for the plastic and expressive mimicry, for the emotional impulse and explosive temperament, for the energies of movement and expression of gesture, as well as for the high suitability to the situations and character of the action.
These qualities have made him one of the most famous actors of the Albanian theater. Mr. Juban's life was interrupted quickly, before he reached the age of fifty, and he even died on the stage of the “Migeni” Theater, on December 1, 1958, a day before the premiere of the first Albanian opera “Mrika” by Prenk Jakova, in which he was also engaged. Holds the title "People's Artist".
